Where The Ducks Go is situated by Ferdinand de Saussaure's concept of the arbitrary nature of the sign in Course on General Linguistics. These photographs circulate themes of temporality, solitude, innocence, and experience. The title is a reference to J.D. Salinger's character Holden Caulfield, and his questioning of where the ducks in Central Park go in the wintertime. I associate Caulfield's question and restlessness with themes that appear in this series, which I find intersect with the principle natures of the sign.
